Gustafson is Adrien Bletton and Jean-Philippe Perras: the result of a random encounter 12 years ago, when the two were students at the National Theatre School of Canada.

It was a party night when Adrien, a cigarette hanging from his mouth, announced to J-P that he felt they were going to “achieve great things together.” It was a shared search for lucidity in a world that seemed more and more to be getting away from them. It was a point of reference that developed in the course of time and experiences. It’s the story of two friends who became brothers. It’s a desire to live life to the fullest, and to gently weep.

In 2015, Gustafson released the EP “Courir dans le noir,” produced by Philippe Brault, and then in 2016 the single “Olivia,” produced by Gabriel Gagnon. In October 2018, “Fantassins I” and “Fantassins II,” in a musical perspective produced by Philippe Brault, provided confirmation of the band’s singular identity – contemporary, romantic and always danceable. Their first album, Le magnifique, came out in June 2021, produced by Gabriel Gagnon and Clément Leduc. The first single release from it, “Ushuaïa,” is an excellent way to join the conversation: an epic with analog sounds surveying the isle of nostalgia, like a search for the sublime. A reflection of their own constant reflection, Jean-Philippe’s and Adrien’s, which makes its way slowly but surely along the fragile quest for self-surpassing, for the magnifique.

The duo is currently working on their next album, which will be released in 2024.
