Katherine Levac

Humorist
Host

Katherine Levac

Fresh from the École nationale de l’humour in 2013, Katherine got off to a dazzling start. Barely out of school, she drew attention to herself thanks to a victory in the “En route vers mon premier gala Juste pour rire” (On the Way to My First Just for Laughs Gala) competition. She quickly became a name to the public at large courtesy of her remarkable performances on the television sketch comedy series SNL Québec, and with the documentary series Les 5 prochains. Again for TV, she collaborated on the shows PaparaGilles and Code F, then rejoined the SNL gang on the sketch program Le nouveau show. She was also one of the headliners on the Like-moi! comedy series written by Marc Brunet, where her participation earned her the award for best performance in humor at the Prix Gémeaux Gala in 2018 and 2020, recognitions shared with the other actors in the series.

Over time, Katherine Levac became an iconic figure among a new generation of humorists partly thanks to her many appearances on television, but all the while she was working on preparing a first solo show. Zoofest opened their doors to her starting in 2014, when Katherine presented that initial solo show, while also taking part in a number of concept shows – and the festival presented her with its artist of the year award. The same year, she did a number on the big stage at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier for a Juste pour rire gala, and the year after she participated for the first time in a ComediHa! gala. In 2015 she received the recognition of her peers by capturing the “Discovery” Olivier. With Velours, her first full solo show launched in 2017, Katherine Levac put on display all the shadings that her deadpan humor comes in – from gentle as a kitten to claws fully exposed... A few months after being staged as a premiere for the media, the show was certified platinum for selling over 100,000 tickets. In 2018 she was one of a selection of francophone humorists chosen by Netflix to present brand-new material as part of a series of specials telecast worldwide. The following year, she showed herself to be in perfect mastery of the situation when she hosted her very first “Soirée carte blanche,” staged and recorded as part of Juste pour rire. The festival presented her with a Prix Victor in recognition of the daring and excellence of the piece she opened her gala with. In winter 2021 she took up a fresh challenge by stepping in as the new host of the popular program L’Amour est dans le pré. Tirelessly turning out new material, Katherine Levac staged the virtual show Grosse in December 2021, which enjoyed an enthusiastic reception. She can currently be found at her writing text as she prepares for her next show.
